Work & Study Programs: Empowering Action-Learning for Bangladesh’s Youth

At SISP, we know that education is more than just attending classes and passing exams. Real transformation happens when young people work, learn, and serve — simultaneously. That’s why we launched our Work & Study Programmes (W&SP) for Bangladesh-based students: to create an integrated path where modest financial support, meaningful work, and continued study go hand in hand.

Why Work & Study?

Many students in Bangladesh carry tremendous academic promise—but are held back by financial burdens. Tuition fees, living costs, books, commuting—these everyday realities drain a student’s time, attention, and hope. Traditional scholarships help, but sometimes the need is deeper: students who must work, who must multitask, who need flexible structures. The Work & Study Programme is designed precisely for them.

By combining part-time work (or supervised study-work) with academic support, we provide a bridge—so talented youth don’t have to choose between “earning” and “learning”. They can do both, and thereby build their future on firmer ground. On our website, SISP notes:

“Shaker W&SP Programme is designed to help students [with] financial needs.” — Shaker Scholarships +1

What the Programme Offers

  • A structured work & study model: students engage in assigned work tasks (study-support, campus services, mentorship roles, supervised projects) alongside their ongoing studies.
  • Financial assistance tied to the programme: because while you work and learn, we support you so you’re not overwhelmed by cost.
  • Mentoring and supervision: SISP ensures that the work component is meaningful, aligned with your learning, and supervised by a mentor who values your growth — not simply a side job.
  • A certificate of completion and recognition: At the end of your term, you receive formal acknowledgement of your combined achievement — which looks beyond grades and into experience, initiative, and service.
  • A community of peers, a network of support: You are not alone. Alongside fellow scholars, you build friendships, learn teamwork, develop confidence and step into leadership.

Who This Is For

  • Students in Bangladesh currently enrolled in secondary school, college, or university — and facing tangible financial difficulty.
  • Those who want to continue studying but also need to work (or prefer working-while-learning) rather than dropping out or pausing their education.
  • Applicants who are prepared to commit to a structured schedule: balancing study with work tasks, showing initiative, being reliable, and growing in responsibility.
  • Students who believe in purpose: that the combination of work + study can shape more than just a degree—but a life of impact.

How It Works & Key Details

  • The “work” component may include roles within partner organisations, supervised study-projects, community services, internal SISP duties, or other approved placements.
  • Hours and responsibilities will vary depending on each student’s level and local opportunity—but the aim is always meaningful work, not busy-work.
  • SISP monitors progress, supports the students monthly, evaluates both the study and work part, and issues the certificate when the full programme is successfully completed.
  • While the exact financial support level is decided case by case, students in the Work & Study programme are prioritised when they show both need and potential.

Why It Matters

  • Develop core workplace behaviours: punctuality, teamwork, accountability, communication.
  • Gain exposure to practical challenges and learn how to apply theory in real life.
  • Stand out to future employers or academic programmes—not just as someone who studied, but as someone who worked and grew.
  • Strengthen your financial position so your education doesn’t stall due to hardship.
  • Be part of a supportive community that acknowledges the full person, not just the student.

The Impact We See

“Receiving the Shaker ISP scholarship means a lot to me… This money helps me immensely to focus on my studies without worrying about financial burdens.” — Shaker Scholarships +1

Through the Work & Study programme we aim to go further: relieving burdens and providing purpose, not just support.

Call to Action: Join the Movement

If you’re reading this and thinking: “I want to keep studying but I also need to work; I want experience, not just textbooks”, then this programme was created for you. Visit our application portal, fill in your details, explain your financial situation and your ambitions, and show how you’re ready to commit to both study and service.

Donors and supporters reading this: you enable more than a scholarship. You enable a transformation—of how young people approach work and education, and of how Bangladesh’s youth define success.

Final Word

The Work & Study Programme of SISP is more than a support mechanism—it’s a philosophy. It’s our belief that young people thrive when given trust, responsibility, and a structure that honours both learning and action. In Bangladesh, where opportunity is uneven and challenges many, this model changes the game.

Study. Work. Serve. Rise. Together we rewrite the narrative. Together we build futures, not just degrees. Please join us.
